MORE BIBLICAL PROOFS

a. Isaiah 8:13-14/ 1 Peter 2:4-8 – Jehovah (in Isaiah) and Jesus (in 1 Peter) are both the stumbling block.

b. Isaiah 9:6. Foretelling the birth of Jesus who, among other things, is Mighty God.

c. Matthew 28:19. The Father (God), the Son, and the Holy Spirit are all equated.

d. Mark 2:5. Jesus says, "Son, your sins are forgiven." In verse 6, the Jews recognized that only God could forgive sins. It is against God that we have sinned. Only God can forgive. Jesus goes on to show that he has the authority to forgive sins, that he is God, backing it up with his authority to heal the paralytic. Either Jesus is God or he is usurping what only God can do.

e. John 1:1. The Word (Jesus) was God. Some would translate this; Jesus was "a God." But in the original Greek, the word "God" comes at the beginning of the sentence, making the word God very emphatic: "God was the Word."

f. John 1:18: "No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father's side (Jesus), has made him known."

g. In John 5:18 the Jews knew very well that by what Jesus said, he equated himself with God. Even though Jesus got into trouble for this, he did not deny it.

h. John 5:58. Jesus says, "Before Abraham was born, I am!" Not, "Before Abraham was born, I was," but, "I am." Not only does "I am" means Jesus always is, eternal, but "I am" is the way God introduced himself to Moses (Exodus 3:14). Jesus equates himself with the God who appeared to Moses.

i. John 20:28. Thomas, who lived with Jesus or three years, identified Jesus as God.

j. Romans 10, verse 13 quotes Joel 2:32 from the Old Testament, referring to God as Lord. Verse 9 uses the same word "Lord" in referring to Jesus and the passage applies what Joel says about God to Jesus.

k. Philippians 2:6 speaks of Jesus "being in very nature God."

l. Hebrews 1:8 speaks of the Son as God. Verse 5 speaks of Jesus surpassing any angel.
